Zizhu Temple, meaning Purple Bamboo Temple, was built in the Southern Tang Dynasty and has a long history. It was called Zizhu Nunnery in the ancient times. Folklore says that there was Zizhu Nunnery first and Haizhou City later. Zizhu Nunnery is named after the temple, where there are a large number of purple bamboos. This purple bamboo is also unique to our scenic spots and unique in the whole Yuntai Mountains.
